The Melkite Church is associated to the Roman Catholic Church, through the organization of Eastern Rite Churches, allowing it a great deal of autonomy and the right to preserve its original character. In 1724, the Melkite moved its commitment to the pope in Rome. The Melkite Church has got 15 Lac believers around the world with 700,000 in the Middle East. The Melkite Christians are the largest Christian body is Israel having strength of about 80,000 believers.  The liturgy of the church is Greek Orthodox.

The Church of the Sermon on the Mount located in Ibillin, Galilee, Israel on the Mar Elias Educational Institutes (MEEI) campus. The Church of the Sermon on the Mount was completed in 2002; the Church was built in the shape of a ship and filled with icons, fresco's, and images.  A large mural in the auditorium is filled with images of those in the world who have been pioneers in peacemaking efforts and scripture passages that remind us of God’s calling to us to be the same.
